Books play an important role in a child’s life. Should you try befriending your kids with these treasures of knowledge from a young age, they are never going to fail in their lives.
As far as my baby is concerned, I am doing every possible thing to make sure that my kid falls in love with these books from the very beginning. To make this happen, as often, I ordered a storybook from Amazon last week. The title of this book is – A Lift-the-Flap Book Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. Today, I would like to review Dear Zoo.
What I liked about this product
I often order books and other goods from Amazon. As always, I had a very good experience.
The book was packed in a very good way and proper care was given to protect this book from all kinds of courier damages. The book was delivered to me at the time promised and I have no complaints as far its packing and delivery are concerned. Cheers! Amazon.
Be it the book’ s cover or the pages, the more I praise the lesser it is. Printing is absolutely flawless. I have no hesitation in giving 10/10.
Because the target audience for Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell is 2-5 years’ old babies, every possible measure is taken to make this book the first choice of children.
On the first and the last page of the book, the pictures of all animals in the form of cartoons look awesome; my baby loved it.
The font used on the inner pages is very attractive. I loved it.
Quality of pages
The quality of the pages is also worth appreciating. I have a lot of baby books with me. However, I have never seen such a fantastic paper quality before. To make these page look shiny, glossy paper is used. These glossy papers not only look attractive but have excellent thickness.
As this is a book to be used by children, all the pages have been made waterproof. The book is completely safe from all incidents of water spillage. No damage to printing or pages at all.
Although Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell is meant to be for children of 2 to 5 years, even for kids younger than this, book’s weight is absolutely fine. They can handle it with ease and they won’t feel any pressure on their wrist or hands.
Easy to read
According to the author, this book is for 2 to 5 years old. Except for a few words, very simple vocabulary has been used in this book.
We know, at the beginning, when the alphabets are taught to young children, they are taught to write all the letters in extra large size.
The main purpose of doing this is to make infants’ reading and writing experience as easiest and interesting as possible.
Keeping the same thing in mind, the font used in this book is also extra large in size. For this reason, it is very easy for small children to read them.
The best thing is the topic of the book. Instead of useless fairy-tales of kings and queens, or wonderlands, Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell is based on the zoo and its animals.
Through the illustrations used in this book, you will be introducing your kid to various zoo animals.
The book is based on a story of a small child’s letter to the zoo. In his letter, he asks zoo to send him a pet. Accepting his request for a pet, the zoo sends him various animals in a sealed box.
Until the kid gets his choice of pet, he keeps returning the animal box to the zoo. In the end, he finally received a pet. To know more about that animal, you will have to buy this book.
Flaps used in book
My little and I really liked the flaps used in this book, which in a way reflect the boxes of animals sent by zoos.
Every time she raises this flap, she tries to identify the hidden animal behind it.
To help her, I try to imitate that animal’s voice. This is the moment we laugh a lot.
My daughter laughs at me when I mimic an animal voice, and seeing a smile on her face, make me happy.
What I disliked about the product
The edges of the book are slightly sharp
Be it the outer cover or the inner pages, the edges of the pages are slightly sharp. We all know, how kids try to put everything in their mouth. Now because its pages are sharp, the edges are thick and hard, this keeps the baby at risk of getting hurt.
In my case, my daughter is still very young, so I had to read this book for her and I never leave her unattended with this book.
Flaps are easy to tear
Undoubtedly, the main attraction of Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell is the flaps and the problem is, flaps are bonded in a very simple way; a kid can easily pull them out.
Without these flaps, the secret remains no secret. Knowing that the book is for the children, no caution has been taken to protect the most attractive part of it.
Apart from these two shortcomings, rest everything is fine in Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell . I feel no problems in recommending this book.
