He begins to laugh at pleasant surprises, such as your face appearing from under a blanket or a toy out of a box. Make sure whatever you are doing is not scaring your baby.

Starting this month, the baby will react and respond on hearing a familiar sound. In the fifth month, you will notice that the baby has already begun to murmur and a few times, he may even resemble real words. At this month, you can expect him to learn what each item is. When you give a toy tell him, “This is a dog” or “This is a doll” or “This is a car” and help them remember them by associating the objects with different sounds. For example, if you show or give it a toy dog, tell and how do dog “ham-ham”. This will easily learn new words faster and make associations between what he sees and the sound of the name object.

  • Drugs or substances must be at an appropriate distance from the baby or you can even raise them to a level where the baby cannot reach.
  • Do not leave hot cups of tea or boiling water in places that could be drawn down by the child.
  • In summer, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. If you are taking your baby out, make sure you had covered his hands, feet and a hat on his head. Use a car seat when traveling with your baby.

Although, it is believed that one should not start solids food until age 6 months. But, according to the specifics of each baby (weight, height, growth), it is your pediatrician who can recommend you a shift in your baby’s diet.
